A residential PV power system enables a homeowner to generate and offset their daily electrical energy demand, exchanging daytime excess power production for future energy needs (i.e. nighttime usage). The house remains connected to the electric utility at all times, so any power required above what the solar system can produce is simply drawn from the utility. These systems can also include battery backup, or un-interruptible power supply (UPS) capability to operate selected circuits in the residence for hours or days during a utility outage.

The solar collectors, which are typically mounted on the roof, are made of a hail resistant material to prevent damage and are designed to withstand winds in excess of local wind codes. PV systems may also qualify a home for an EPA Five-Star Home energy-efficiency mortgage or LEED certification or as a Zero Energy Home (ZEH) .
Solar systems are also excellent for the reduction of power costs to both the elderly and government funded housing projects. Between 20% to 100% of an electric bill can be offset using these systems. The typical system is designed to offset between 15% to 50% of a typical homes monthly energy consumption.

Some utility companies have net metering programs, which further enhance the economics of PV. Net metering means that when a PV system generates more electricity than needed, the excess goes to the utility grid and the meter spins backwards. In some cases this excess power can then be sold to the utility or traded for future credit on an individual’s utility bill.

The U.S. government provides a unlimited 30% tax credit towards the installation of solar electric (PV) systems in residential applications. That’s 30% of the systems cost (including taxes) that can be directly subtracted from your tax liability. In addition, property tax exemptions can be claimed for the increase in property value as a result of the solar electric system. According to the Appraisal journal Institute every $1 in energy savings directly increase the value of your property by $20. This increase is Tax Exempt in the state of Texas. Multiple utility companies including ENTERGY, AEP, ONCOR, TNMP, CSP, BTU, and Austin Energy offer up to a 40% cash rebate towards the purchase of solar energy systems.

After-Sale Services
