Solar Electric Power Generation for
the Home
Residential Solar Power Systems
for Texas & Louisiana Also known as Photovoltaic or PV Systems
From design to installation to maintenance, Alternative Power
Solutions LLC (APS) offers residential solar power system solutions
to home owners and home builders who wish to reduce energy
costs and increase home energy efficiency.
APS solar electric power systems generate clean, environmentally-friendly
electricity to power appliances, lights and machinery – anything
that runs on electricity in your home. From 20% to
100% of your electric bill can be eliminated using theses
systems.
Solar electric power systems are also excellent for
the reduction of power costs in apartment buildings, public
housing and communal residences for the elderly.
APS also sells pre-packaged solar electric
systems to the technically savvy home owner and to new home
builders that can be installed by an electrician once trained
by our staff.

Solar Power System Features
Installed typically
on the roof, the solar panels (also called photovoltaic panels)
convert sunlight directly into DC electricity. An
inverter then converts this DC current to AC electricity for
all, or some of your daily needs, depending on your homes daily
power consumption. Your home remains connected to the electric
grid at all times (when access to utility generated electricity
is available), so any extra need for power above what the solar
power system can generate is simply drawn from the utility. You
can monitor the energy produced by your system through a graphical
interface in your home or from anywhere in the world via the
Internet.
Sell Your Excess Solar Electric Power
Some
utility companies have net metering programs, which further
enhance the economics of photovoltaic power. Net metering means
that when a photovoltaic system generates more electricity than
needed, the excess goes to the utility grid and the meter spins
backwards. This excess power can then be sold to the utility
or traded for future credit on your utility bill.

Solar Electric Power Economics
APS can help you understand
all the economic benefits of having solar electric power. For
example:
- Installing a solar electric system during new home construction
enables the builder to provide an energy efficient home at
minimal cost.
- Photovoltaic systems may also qualify a home for an EPA
Five Star Home energy-efficiency mortgage, LEED certification,
or as a Zero Energy Home (ZEH).
- The federal government and various state governments offer
tax credits and financial incentives towards the purchase
of solar electric systems.
- Property tax exemptions can be claimed because of increased
property value due to the solar electric system.

APS also offers a battery backup or uninterruptible power
supply (UPS) for use during a utility outage, or in locations
where utility generated power is not available.
APS solar electric
power generating systems carry up to a 5-year installation
and up-to-25-year manufacturer’s warranty
and typically produce power for in excess of 30 years. The
solar panels are hail resistant and able to withstand winds
in excess of 100 mph.
