Solar Pool Pumping

Solar Pool Pumping is one of the most cost-effective and logical uses of solar energy. Using only a few solar collectors, the DC pool pump has enough electricity to run all day using free green electricity from the sun.
Swimming pool cleaning usually accounts for the second largest and most expensive electrical load (after air conditioning) on a home's electrical system. Solar powered water pumping systems can completely remove that monthly recurring draw and expense. A solar pump is practical because the need for filtration is greatest during daylight hours, and the pool circulation requirements correspond with solar intensity.
Solar photovoltaic modules produce electricity which is used directly by a high-efficiency DC pump motor custom coupled to a standard above ground centrifugal water pump. This system is generally capable of circulating in excess of 25,000 gallons of water per day at a rate of up to 4,000 gallons per hour.
Your existing AC pump can serve as a backup to the solar pump or to supply additional flow on cloudy days. The solar pump can also be supplied with an AC to DC converter if you still need to run the pump at night, or simply set the AC pump timer to turn on the AC pump. An optional pole mounting system can also be supplied by APS for applications where the roof will not support optimal solar orientation or for those customers who do not want the solar panels on their roof.
Solar pool pumping is perfect for use in conjunction with a solar pool heating system because water needs to be pumped through the solar collectors when (and only when) the sun is shining. Solar pool pumping systems are perfect for that too because they eliminate the usual need for controls, and are naturally sun-synchronous.
